SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

With this agenda item two actions will take place, repealing Section 2-10-1 of the Erie Municipal Code and approving the Town’s Fees Schedule by resolution.

The Town of Erie’s current fees schedule is in the Municipal Code (Section 2-10-1) and requires Board action to make any updates. In order to have greater flexibility to amend and update the Town’s Fees Schedule staff and legal counsel have determined it is in the best interest of the Town to repeal Section 2-10-1 in its entirety and reenact as follows:

2-10-1 - Fees.

The Town's current fee schedule shall be adopted by the Board of Trustees by resolution.  The fee schedule shall include administrative fees, Police Department fees, Public Works Department fees, Community Development Department fees, building permit fees, Parks and Recreation Department fees, cemetery fees and other miscellaneous fees.

Upon removal of the fee schedule from the municipal code the Board of Trustees will approve the fee schedule by resolution. Moving forward, on an annual basis the fee schedule will be reviewed and updated. This is the same process that is used to annually update the Town’s Standards and Specifications.
