SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
Being Better Neighbors (BBN) would like to host a Juneteenth Event in Coal Creek Park on June 19th, 2021. The event will include concert performances, live D.J., vendors from local black owned businesses, children’s activities and cultural education on the significance of the holiday. BBN is working with the Erie Chamber of Commerce to coordinate this event with the Chamber of Commerce’s Concert in the Park, which will be held that evening in the same location on June 19th.
To help make this event a reality, BBN is requesting a $7,500 Community Grant Request, to help cover the costs of marketing, vendor/performer support and other programming expenses.
BBN representatives will attend the Board meeting and will be available to provide additional details and answer questions.
Fiscal Impact:
If approved, this request will not require an additional appropriation because in the 2021 budget the Board of Trustees approved $39,200 for the Grants to Communities Program. To date $12,000 has been distributed and another $16,900 in requests will be funded in the second half of the year, leaving an available balance of $10,300 for new requests such as this one from BBN.
