This is an Intergovernmental Agreement from Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) requiring approval from both entities to proceed on the project.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommend approving the IGA with CDOT.

SUMMARY/KEY POINTS
* The improvements will include a safer trail crossing on Arapahoe Road at the South Boulder Canyon Ditch connecting the Town of Erie's trail system to the City of Lafayette's trail system, and including bus platforms, signage, a striped crosswalk, sidewalk connections to both agency's trails, and flashing beacons.
* The project is grant funded from the 2024 Congressional Directed Spending grant application submitted for multimodal improvements. $500,000 was awarded with a $125,000 match from the Town.
* CDOT provided a contract to accept these funds and terms.
* Next steps involve posting an RFP to select a consultant to work on the project which will be presented to Council for approval at a later date.

BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
The Town of Erie's Transportation Mobility Plan identifies a safer trail crossing on Arapahoe Road at the South Boulder Canyon Ditch. A safer trail crossing is also recommended at this location in CDOT's CO 7 Segment C Study.
