POLICY ISSUES:
The Town’s built environment impacts the experience and quality of life for those who live, visit, and work in Erie. Ensuring that development fosters a safe, accessible environment that allows for a range of transportation options (walking, biking, driving, etc.), requires analyzing the form, location, and type of development throughout the town. Drive through building typologies foster and prioritize vehicular travel over other modes. Evaluating where these typologies may be appropriate is a policy decision for consideration by the Planning Commission.

Drive through commercial establishments are located throughout the community and are primarily focused on major arterial roadways. While drive throughs are responsive to the current retail development trends, they do have an impact on the overall development quality and walkability of the Town’s built environment.
The discussion will cover:

• Best Practices
• Discussion
The intent of the discussion is to determine whether regulation of drive throughs would be appropriate for meeting the Town’s vision for the built environment.
