POLICY ISSUES:

The proposed emergency ordinance supports a specific affordable housing development implementing the Council's previous policy decisions to encourage development of a variety of housing types and levels of affordability throughout the Town.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

The attached emergency ordinance is proposed to maintain the project development schedule for the Cheesman Street Residences. The ordinance authorizes the transfer of property from the Town of Erie to HousePAD Erie, LLC per the terms of the Development Agreement (DA).

 

The property is located at 765-785 Cheesman Street and was purchased by the Town with the sole purpose of facilitating the development of affordable ownership housing. Transfer of the property will initiate the development of 35 single family and single family attached residences by HousePAD Erie, LLC. The DA stipulates that the property must be transferred prior to recordation of the Final Plat.
