SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
In mid-2021, based on Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) bridge inspection reports, Engineering staff identified and prioritized the Weld County Road 3 bridge for repairs as soon as funding was available.

This bridge was constructed in 1989 and is located approximately one-half-mile south of State Highway 52 on Weld County Road 3. This is a single-span bridge with a corrugated metal deck supported by steel girders on concrete abutments. It spans over the Lower Boulder Ditch. See the attached Location Map.

In May 2022, staff retained RockSol Consulting under a Professional Services Agreement, and has since been working with the consultant to prepare preliminary and final construction plans for replacement of the existing bridge, upgrades to the bridge guard rails and reconstruction of the roadway over the bridge.

On Feb. 14, 2023, the Town was notified by the CDOT Bridge Inspection Program that the Weld County Road 3 bridge was inspected in January 2023 and was designated as requiring "Essential Repairs;" a designation that recommends replacement of the existing corrugated steel deck due to severe corrosion, within the next 6 to 12 months.
