SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
In 1996, the National Safety Council established June as National Safety Month, aiming to increase awareness of leading safety and health risks, and ultimately decrease the number of unintentional injuries and deaths in the United States.
The Town of Erie joined the effort to increase awareness of the impact of unintentional injuries by proclaiming June as National Safety Month.
The Town of Erie’s Safety Committee focuses on these objectives year-round and also recognizes and supports the initiative for June to increase awareness of safety and decrease injuries.
Attached are materials that briefly explain the safety topics highlighted for 2023 which include Emergency Preparedness, Slips, Trips & Falls, Heat-Related Illness, and Hazard Recognition.
