Staff recommends adopting the ordinance for the Wells Street right-of-way vacation

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

Wells Street right-of-way was platted with the original Town of Erie, East Addition plat from 1885. A portion of the right-of-way currently runs through Coal Creek Park and is not built out with street improvements at this location.

Coal Creek Park is owned by the Town of Erie and maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department. In January 2022, the Coal Creek Park redevelopment project commenced. This project includes installing new park amenities and features. The project requires the Wells Street ROW vacation, re-platting the park lots into one legal lot, and rezoning the park from OTR - Old Town Residential to DT - Downtown. This right-of-way vacation is one of three applications associated with this project.

The Board of Trustees is the decision making body for all right-of-way vacations. This item does not require a public hearing.
