SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
The Town sought applicants to fill five vacancies on the seven-member Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory Board (DEIAB) beginning on March 8, 2021. The DEIAB is intended to represent diversity (including racial, ethnic, LGBTQ, economic background, and disabilities) in the Town of Erie. The applications were initially due on March 22. The process was extended to March 29. In total, the Town received 17 applications. The existing members of the DEIAB reviewed the applications and in a working session on Thursday, April 15, the DEIAB crafted for the Board of Trustees’ consideration the attached recommended appointments to the DEIAB. The Town also contracted with Dr. Darlene Sampson, DBA Diversity & Equity Consultants to review and provide recommendations to the Board of Trustees on the applications.
