SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
A Retail Marijuana Ad-Hoc Committee was formed in 2016 to examine the question of whether or not the permanent ban on the sale of marijuana products within Town boundaries should be lifted. In 2017, the Trustees voted to continue the ban. With many changes in the cannabis industry, neighboring communities and state guidelines, the Board requested Town staff reexamine this issue in 2021. The presentation includes considerations that nearby municipalities reviewed while evaluating legalizing marijuana sales.
