SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
Among the items listed in the 2021 Work Plan is “Development Review and Building Permit Fees Update”. This issue involves evaluating the fees charged by the Planning and Development Department to process land-use applications and the building department for issuing building permits to assure they are reasonable and competitive. These fees do not include fees such as Impact Fees, Water and Waste Water Tap Fees, and similar fees, as those are being evaluated separately.
The attached report provides background on the current fees and a comparison of Erie’s fees relative to other local jurisdictions. This information is intended to give the Board of Trustees background information and review staff’s recommendations for updating the basis for calculating Erie’s fees, prior to implementing any changes.
