SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
Section 31-12-105(1)(e) C.R.S. requires the Town adopt a Three Mile Plan that generally describes the location, character and extent of various public facilities in an area extending three miles beyond the municipal boundaries, prior to completing annexation of land within the Three Mile Area. Historically, staff has relied on a compilation of various land use plans, procedures and other documents that were previously adopted and utilized by the Town as the “Three Mile Plan.” This is the practice of most municipalities in Colorado. Therefore, and consistent with this approach, staff asks the Board to approve the Resolution formally adopting the compilation of land use plans, procedures and documents as the “Three Mile Plan” for the Town of Erie.
