Recommendation

Approve the resolution approving a construction contract with Coyote Ridge Construction, LLC. for the Coal Creek Disc Golf Course ditch crossing, and authorize staff to expend contracted funds.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
The 2020 adopted budget includes funding for an 18-hole disc golf course to be located in the Coal Creek open space between downtown and the Colliers Hill neighborhood. This project aligns with the goals stated in the Parks, Recreation, Open Space and Trails Master Plan, and has been thoroughly vetted by the community and the Town's Open Space and Trails Advisory Board. The final design for the disc golf course was adopted by the Board in February of this year.

Over the last several months' staff has been working with a landscape architect to produce the final construction documents needed to build the course. Part of this work included working with the Erie Coal Creek Ditch Company to create a safe and legal culvert crossing over the Cottonwood Extension Ditch which runs through the middle of the course. The design for the culvert crossing had to be created using standards and specification created by the ditch company, and the final design had to be approved by their engineer and legal counsel.
