SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
A few months ago, Iron Woman Construction installed a waterline across County Line Road as part of the Compass development. During this process, a faulty 24-inch butterfly valve was discovered. The valve is approximately 15 feet below the surface and is stuck in a position that it will not open or close. Once exposed, an attempt will be made to repair; if not repairable, the valve will be removed. There is another valve along the same line that can handle the operation of the waterline if a removal is needed.

In the next few months, Iron Woman Construction will be performing another tie-in for a storm line across County Line Road again as part of the Compass development. This work requires traffic control services to keep traffic flowing on County Line Road during the portion of the work that crosses the Road. Since the faulty valve is in close proximity to the storm line work the Town requested a bid from Iron Woman to perform this removal.

Fiscal Impact:
Due to the depth of the valve and related safety issues, and with Town staff working modified shifts (due to COVID-19), and with the contractor already mobilized for other work in the area, it is more cost effective to have the contractor complete the work. The pricing is reflective of the bene...
