SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
Background:
This is an annual fee required for use of Boulder County Communication Dispatch services. Prior to our current 5 year contract, Dispatch services were:
2014 = $213,783.00
2015 = $214,452.00
Five years ago, the Erie PD made a contract with BC Dispatch and have benefited each year. Costs for the past five years have been:
2016 = $100,000.00
2017 = $100,000.00
2018 = $103,100.00
2019 = $103,100.00
2020 = $104,600.00
The contract expires at the end of December 2020 and we will start incurring more costs. We have not contributed the same as Lafayette or Louisville. Our calls for service (CFS) are steadily increasing.
Starting in 2021, we have another five year plan which will show some fairly substantial increases. Costs for the next five years are slated to be:
2021 = $295,312.00
2022 = $299,742.00
2023 = $304,238.00
2024 = $308,801.00
2025 = $313,434.00
The new Boulder County Division Chief in charge of Dispatch, Mike Wagner, is planning to conduct a business analysis to ascertain if these fees are as they should be. Current fee increases from 2021 - 2025, go up by 1.5% annually.
Fiscal Impact:
This amount has already been budgeted for 2020.
