SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

Background:

The Town has an existing contract with J-U-B Engineers, Inc. to provide design services for the Erie Parkway and WCR 7 Intersection project. The intersection design is nearing completion for the roadway work; design of the signal poles are separate.  Unforeseen changes have made it necessary to work with adjacent property owners for both roadway modifications and exhibits for negotiating right-of-way. In addition to changes in design, the effort needed for utility locations has been greater than anticipated.  J-U-B also provided exhibits that were outside of the original scope of the design that were instrumental in the Town being awarded grant funding for the signal portion of the intersection.

J-U-B estimates an additional $20,000 is needed for the additional effort to complete the design phase.

Fiscal Impact:

J-U-B Engineers, Inc.’s design contract was original approved for $149,100, which included $129,659 with a $19,441 contingency which has been expended as part of the expanded scope of the project. The additional $20,000 will increase the total design cost to $169,100.
