SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

Background:

In May of 2019 the traffic signal cabinet that controls the traffic signal lights at Arapahoe Road and 119th Street intersection was hit and damaged. Minor repairs were completed at the time to make the signal functional. The 2019 budget includes operational funds for traffic signal call out repairs and a capital account to upgrade all signal cabinets to a universal system that can be run through a remotely operated system.

The Town requested a quote from W.L. Contractors to complete the repair work needed and to upgrade the cabinet to include a double access door and a battery backup system. The repair work is estimated to be $19,212, while the upgrade work is estimated to be $8,567 for a total project estimate of $27,779. Staff is requesting an additional allowance of $2,221 for any unforeseen items that may arise.

Fiscal Impact:

Repairs                     $19,212

Upgrade                     $8,567

Contingency                     $2,221

Total Cost                     $30,000
