Approve the resolution authorizing the replacement of the Defender Filtration System at the Erie Community Center indoor pool in the amount of $189,060.00.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
The 2020 operating budget includes funds for the replacement of the Defender Filtration System for the swimming pool at the Erie Community Center (ECC). For the reasons identified below, staff has determined the current system is in need of replacement in order for continued and uninterrupted service of the pool at the community center:
* The filtration system is 12 years old and has reached the end of its useful life. Any future repairs that are needed will result in temporary pool closures;
* Water quality and water filtration are being negatively impacted due to build-up of rust on inside of the current system. As a result, staining from rust on the pool plaster is starting to appear;
* Various components of the current system are repeatedly failing. In November of 2019, the bottom flange experienced a major failure which resulted in a pool closure for several days.
Staff engaged with our aquatics repair company, CEM Sales and Service, to determine the next steps to replace the system and to gather pricing. CEM and the Town have worked together for several years on previous pool repair projects and they have specific knowledge of the Defender Filtration System which is unique to our operations.
