SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
This proposed ordinance revises the amount of the water hydrant meter deposit from $1,000 to $3,000. The additional cost reflects the additional backflow prevention device now included with the hydrant meter rental.
Background: In May of 2019, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment completed an assessment of the Town’s distribution and collection systems. The report received from this assessment noted that the Town does not current provide backflow prevention devices with the rental of water hydrant meters for construction. Currently, the Town requires that the rental user provide either a backflow device or an air gap device to prevent the potential for contamination, going forward we will supply the device; hence the increased fee.
