SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
The Model Traffic Code is the traffic code published by the Colorado Dept. of Transportation and adopted by most municipalities and counties. The Town has adopted the various editions of the code. The code consists of the traffic regulations that can be charged into the Erie Municipal Court.
The proposed ordinance adopts the 2020 edition of the Model Traffic Code (the Town adopted editions 1995 and 2010, which were the most recent editions). Because the ordinance adopts a code by reference, state law requires that the ordinance initially be introduced before the governing body (which occurred on January 14, 2020). Public hearing is scheduled for February 25, 2020. After receiving public comment, if any, the Board of Trustees can discuss adoption of the proposed ordinance.
