SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
The 2020 adopted budget includes the purchase of new and replacement Fleet units. The Capital Budget includes purchasing a replacement backhoe replacing unit 114. Each unit is evaluated on the basis of age, mileage, and maintenance cost. The current backhoe is predominantly used by the Distribution and Collections division although occasionally used by other various divisions including, but not limited to, Streets, Parks, Water Treatment, and Wastewater Treatment.
The Town received the quote from Wagner Equipment Company through the use of Sourcewell (formerly NJPA) Cooperative Purchasing Group. The total cost of the backhoe is $179,568.23. Due to lead time in actually receiving a new vehicle from the dealer, it will take approximately two months from the Board’s approval to put this unit into service.
