SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

Public Works, with assistance from Burns & McDonnell, has submitted an application to the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) for a Renewable and Clean Energy Challenge Grant in the amount of $766,704. This is a new grant established this year with $12 million in overall funds to be dispersed. If received these funds (or alternate amount) will be used to help fund the hydro-turbine installation at the Lynn R. Morgan Water Treatment Facility (WTF). As reminder this turbine is anticipated to supply roughly 20% of the electrical demand at the WTF.

A condition of the grant is that the application be approved by the Town Board of Trustees, while the application was due December 2, 2019, DOLA has confirmed that Board approval after the application date is not a problem.
