SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

The Town of Erie began celebrating Independence Day on July 3rd more than 20 years ago.

The festivities have varied, and changed over time. From parades to concerts, speeches and baseball games to pie eating and pageants. But one thing has not changed; a celebration among friends under a sky illuminated by fireworks.

This year, The Town of Erie is rewinding the Independence Day celebration.  The Town is inviting residents to bring a blanket, and perhaps a picnic, and find the perfect spot. After dusk a fireworks show will delight Erie residents from Vista Ridge. Great locations include: Columbine Mine Park, the Vista Ridge Clubhouse, and viewers are welcome on the driving range at Colorado National Golf Course after 5 p.m.
