SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
The Town of Erie has been asked to support the creation of a regional coalition that will work with the state, counties and municipalities along the Stage Highway 52 corridor to address safety and transportation issues along the corridor.
With the creation of this coalition the best interests of the Town of Erie and its residents can be represented in the economic development opportunities, long range planning and other improvements along this major east/west corridor. Additionally, the creation of this coalition is necessary in order to advocate for funding to improve safety, access and signalization through grants or other means.
With the approval of the attached resolution the Town of Erie shows its full support and encouragement for the creation of this coalition, pledges to have staff support available for meetings and pledges to consider matching funds for grants as a part of the budget process.
