SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
The Town migrated to a virtualized server environment in 2014 with a strategy to replace the server equipment at the end of the 5-year warranty or end of support. The warranty will expire February 2019 on all virtual server equipment. Approving the proposed Resolution/amendment to the Master Service Agreement will enable the Town’s current vendor, Mission Critical Systems, to proceed with replacing 3 domain controllers/physical servers that have reached end of life, all VM hosts, SAN devices, and network switches.
Previous Background. On January 14, 2014 the Board of Trustees approved Resolution 14-15 regarding a service agreement to provide server virtualization of the server environment with a 5-year service warranty. Virtual servers allow the Town to make the most of current technology and provide better service with fewer risks.
On December 3, 2018 the Board approved a request for Sole Source to allow the Town’s current network and critical maintenance service provider, Mission Critical Systems, to purchase and migrate to the new environment.
