SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
The 2019 budget includes the purchase of new and replacement Fleet units. The Capital Budget includes purchasing a replacement pickup for Streets for unit 129, a 2005 Chevy Colorado. Each unit is evaluated on the basis of age, mileage, and maintenance cost. This truck meets the age and repair costs. In 2018, this truck experienced some hail damage. The estimated cost for repair of that damage is $4,061.43, the actual value of the vehicle based on NADA is $5,300 and the Town has a $2,500 deductible for repairs. In addition this truck is a two wheel drive and therefore not useful to the O&M Manager on a year round basis. Fleet recommends repurposing this truck to a general usage truck for divisions to use as needed so that it may gain some miles as it currently only has 47,000 miles and a replacement truck be purchased for the originating division.
The Town received the State Bid from Dellenbach Motors for a Chevy Colorado pickup truck for $33,807, including options. We've added additional funds to cover freight, delivery and possible additional fees of $3,293. The total projected cost for this truck is $37,100. Due to lead time in actually receiving a new vehicle from the dealer, it will take approximately eight months from the Board's approval to put the new truck into service.
