SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: Town Hall Window Replacement Project was appropriated in the 2018 budget and the Certificate of Appropriateness was approved by the Historic Preservation Advisory Board on October 8, 2018.
The existing windows in Town Hall are approximately 20 years old, the material is deteriorating and are no longer energy efficient. The Town Hall Window Replacement Project will replace 67 of the existing inefficient windows with new non-operable, insulated windows.
The replacement of the window will improve overall building efficiency, while minimizing the discomfort of the temperature swings in the building due to weather changes and reduce the peak heating and cooling loads on the current HVAC system.
The preservation of the historic appearance of Town Hall is a priority and meeting the Historic Preservation Standards and Guidelines - National Park Service (NPS). Therefore the installation of the new windows will maintain the current 16 pane colonial appearance, keeping the same glass to frame ratio per NPS Recommended.
