SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
In the fall of 2017, the Board of Trustees and town staff realized a need for more bicycle parking in downtown Erie. It has been the Town’s and Board of Trustees vision to create a dedicated and attractive space for bicycle parking downtown and give residents more options for bicycle parking. During the summer of 2018, the Board of Trustees appropriated additional money from the general fund to complete construction of the Bike Plaza. Town staff worked with Wenk Associates to prepare construction documents and went out to bid.
Construction Contract
On August 8, 2018 an invitation to bid was released and three bids were received as shown below:
Colt & Steel Corporation $43,190.12
Site Work Solutions $71,506.70
KECI Colorado, Inc. $95,850.00
Analysis completed by staff it has been determined that Colt & Steel Corporation is the best overall contractor to complete the project based on the following factors:
• Bid amount
• Past work history/experience
• Interview with staff
