SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
During the design of the Erie Parkway Bridge over Coal Creek, it was determined that the 30-inch waterline will need to be relocated due to conflicts with the bridge improvements. During the First 2018 Supplemental budget, funds were approved for relocating this line. The Design was completed by Merrick & Company who has worked on multiple other projects for the Town.
Merrick & Company was asked to provide a cost for construction management. The construction management services will include inspection, documentation and oversight during construction. Geotechnical testing services will be provided by the Erie Parkway Bridge Designer (RockSol). The Town’s construction inspectors are focused on construction inspection and oversight of residential and commercial development. Due to the complexity of this project, Staff believes it is in the Town’s best interest to have the design firm provide construction management services.
Staff is recommending awarding a consulting agreement for construction management services for the Erie Parkway 30” Waterline Relocation Project to Merrick & Company, in the amount of $55,612 with a contingency amount of $5,588.
