SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
The 2018 Transportation Impact Fund includes funds for improvements to mitigating traffic issues due to development.
With the opening of the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) Meadow Lark Elementary School in 2017 and the soon to be opened Star Meadows Neighborhood Park in the Flatiron's Meadows development, the need for a controlled crosswalk at Erie Parkway and Meadow View Parkway was evaluated. Based on the Town's draft crosswalk policy, this location does warrant improvements. In addition to the crosswalk meeting the policy, BVSD has offered to pay for half the cost for the improvements.
Town Staff obtained a design for the installation of a cross walk and Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) from Fox Tuttle Hernandez Transportation Group. This plan included the work required for a safe crosswalk on the west side of the intersection of Erie Parkway and Meadow View Parkway. The plan was used to get pricing to complete the project.
