SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
In April 2017 the Board of Trustees authorized a contract with Wenk Associates to complete a master plan and construction documents for the Linear Trail Connection. It has been the Town’s and Board of Trustees vision to complete the Linear Trail Connection project. Completion of this will increase trail connectivity, improve circulation and encourage alternative forms of transportation to/from the downtown area.
The conceptual master plan was approved by the Board of Trustees on January 23, 2018 and the required funds were appropriated on March 23, 2018 in order for the project to move on to the bidding and construction phase. The final steps were to obtain approval from the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) for a trail crossing of a section of unused Regional Transportation District (RTD) railroad and enter into a license agreement with RTD.
Approval for the crossing was granted by the PUC came on May 15, 2018. The Town and RTD have agreed to the terms of the attached license agreement and it is now ready for signature by the appropriate Town Officer.
