SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

SUMMARY: The Town of Erie has developed an Energy Action Plan to help institute a series of actions and activities that will lower energy use community wide and engage residents and businesses to take advantage of utility rebates to save resources. The plan consists of an energy vision, goals for energy savings, and specific and detailed strategies to achieve those reductions. Xcel Energy will provide support for an approximately 18-month period commencing after acceptance of this plan and the finalization of a Memorandum of Understanding outlining the roles of stakeholders.

BACKGROUND: In March of 2017, the Town submitted an application to Xcel Energy to participate in their Partners in Energy program (PiE). This two-year program consists of a six-month planning phase and an eighteen-month implementation phase and is meant to assist communities to identify and prioritize their energy needs. In June of 2017, the Board approved a resolution authorizing a Memorandum of Understanding with Xcel Energy outlining responsibilities related to the Planning Phase of the Partners in Energy Program. The six-month planning phase concluded in January of this year.
