SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
In 2017 the Parks & Recreation Department was requested to explore the various ways that the Town’s Schofield Farm Open Space could be preserved and utilized to best benefit the residents of Erie. In order to complete this task staff retained Design Concepts (as approved by the Board of Trustees in April 2017).
Staff worked closely with Design Concepts throughout this project and held various stakeholder meetings and public input sessions throughout 2017. Conceptual plans were created with various levels of activity addressed in each of the alternatives. After careful consideration and discussion with staff, sections of the draft master plan were presented and discussed with the Board of Trustees at a Study Session in October 2017. A final revision of the Master Plan has been completed and is now ready for formal acceptance (see attachment).
Once accepted the Schofield Master Plan will be a useful tool to guide preservation and development efforts for this unique open space site.
