SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
In April 2017 the Board of Trustees authorized a contract with Wenk Associates to complete a master plan and construction documents for Coal Creek Park and the Linear Trail Connection. The conceptual master plan has been completed and construction documents for the Linear Trial Connection are 80% complete. These construction documents are for the base concept which did not have additional recommended changes from the Board meeting or the final public meeting, which was held at the Erie Community Center on December 6, 2017. Work on the construction documents for the park can move forward upon approval the attached site plan.
The Coal Creek Park entry feature has not yet been chosen and total estimated construction cost will be dependent upon this decision. Entry feature options include landscape feature which creates an immediate recognition of useful gathering space, while acknowledging our history and future. We will continue to work through specific details of this element
With the Linear Trail Connection construction documents underway, staff would propose to come back to the Board as early as February for approval to appropriate funds to begin construction in fall of 2018. The estimated cost to construct the Linear Trail Connection is $500,000.00.
