SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

Each Year, the FAA dedicates $150,000 in General Aviation (GA) Funds to the Erie Municipal Airport for FAA approved projects.  These funds comprise 90% of project funding with the remaining 10% split between the Colorado Division of Aeronautics (CDOA) and the Town of Erie.

The Town of Erie has been saving up GA Funds for a few years to be able to fund this year’s Apron Rehabilitation Project.  The apron has several groups of panels that are experiencing pavement failure.  With this project, the damaged panels will be removed and replaced with state specification concrete panels.  Aircraft tie-downs will be replaced in the current locations.  The award of the construction contract for this work was awarded by the Board of Trustees at the 8/22/17 BOT Meeting.  The FAA’s grant was also accepted by the Board of Trustees at the 8/22/17 BOT Meeting.  Below is a breakdown of the budget.

In the 2017 Airport Operating Budget, the construction of a Snow Removal Equipment (SRE) building was scheduled.  Staff recently bid the project and only one bid was received.  Staff has discussed this with the FAA and the Airport Manager and the project will be bid again either later this year or early 2018.  Construction is anticipated during 2018.
