STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the Board of Trustees approve the resolution that awards audit services to CliftonLarsonAllen LLP.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
In 2012 the Town selected CliftonLarsonAllen LLP (CLA) as its new auditor pursuant to an RFP process. The initial agreement was for audits through 2017. Staff has found the quality of CLA's audit work to be consistently high, and rigorous. Based on the experience since CLA was engaged, other responses to the 2012 RFP (one from a small local firm and another from a regional firm approximately half the size of CLA), staff is recommending that CLA be engaged as the Town's auditor for 2017, with optional renewals for 2018-2021. The first year fee is $31,000 (exclusive of any fee required to conduct a federal grant audit, should one be required). A copy of the fee proposal is attached.

One of the country's 10 largest accounting firms, CLA was formed in 2011 through the merger of Clifton Gunderson (founded in 1960) and LarsonAllen (founded in 1957). With two offices in the Denver metro area (Greenwood Village and Broomfield), CLA has 146 local professionals, of which 77 are 100% dedicated to serving local and state government clients. The Denver metro offices public sector clients including the following: the City of Longmont, the City of Boulder, and the City of Fort Lupton. The CLA team to be assigned to the Town's audit has extensive experience in the public sector.
