SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

With 18 Open Space properties, six of which have been acquired since 2014, the Town is seeking a consultant to create its first Open Space Management Plan in order to understand, manage, and preserve the ecological integrity of the Town’s entire Open Space portfolio. In addition, staff is recommending an update to the Town’s Natural Areas Inventory, which was last updated in 2007. The OSTAB has recommended both projects to be completed.

Staff requested submissions from the Town’s Pre-Approved Landscape Architect List in early June for the project. After internal review and OSTAB recommendations, staff and OSTAB chair conducted in-person interviews with two consultants before recommending Great Ecology.

Upon authorization of the service contract with Great Ecology, staff will prepare a purchase order and commence the process.
