STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation

Approve the Resolution to enter into a Reimbursement Agreement with St. Vrain Valley School district RE-1J, authorizing the Mayor to execute said agreement and Staff to expend funds.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

St. Vrain Valley School District RE-1J (School District) is currently constructing a new K-8 school north of the existing Erie High School.  On this site the Town will be constructing a new non-potable water storage tank and pump station for the Town’s reuse water system.  In addition to the tank and pump station, two non-potable waterlines are needed.  The tank and pump station will not be ready to bid for several weeks.  In an effort to work cooperatively with the School District’s schedule, the School District has offered to construct the two waterlines using their contractor, and the Town reimburse the School District for the cost of these lines.

The Town’s engineer has worked with the School District to provide information for pricing the two waterlines. Staff believes the pricing is fair.

Construction Cost for Waterlines                                          $300,000

Contingency 15%                                                                                    $  45,000

Total Cost                                                                                                         $345,000

Staff will bring a construction contract back to the Board for the non-potable water storage tank and pump station to be located on the school site later this year.
