SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: The Erie Municipal Airport (EIK) Master Plan was recently completed and adopted by the Board of Trustees and the FAA in June, 2016.
Since the adoption of the Master Plan in 2016, the FAA has requested that the Town of Erie revise information in the Airport Layout Plan (ALP) in regards to the circling approach associated with the airport. The FAA is in the process of changing airspace requirements for Non-Precision Instrument (NPI) Approaches and has requested that the Erie Municipal Airport’s ALP show the new information. The requested changes will enable the FAA to perform airspace modeling for the future NPI requirements.
With the permanent closure of runway 9-27, Staff has worked with the FAA to reset the boundaries of the Airport Influence Area to reflect only having one runway (runway 15-33) and the traffic pattern associated with this runway.
The two changes described above are housekeeping in nature and have been coordinated with the FAA, the airport manager, and ADG, the airport consultant that drafted the Airport Master Plan. The changed have been incorporated into the drawings before you tonight. Onced signed by the Mayor, Saff will obtain FAA signature on the ALP.
