SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

Coal Creek is a major drainage way that enters Erie at the west side of Erie Airpark Subdivision and runs north through Erie and leaves Erie at Kenosha Road.

In 2012, the Town of Erie, along with Urban Drainage Flood Control District (UDFCD), and five other municipalities, sponsored a Coal Creek Rock Creek Major Drainage Way Plan. This provides Town Staff a Master Plan for Coal Creek Improvements within the Town of Erie.

The 2016 Capital Budget includes funds to design and construct improvements to two reaches of Coal Creek. The design contract for these two reaches was awarded to RESPEC at the December 9, 2014 Board meeting.

Design has been completed on one of these reaches and construction bids have been received. The proposed improvements are adjacent to an irrigation pond east of Erie Commons that was damaged during the September 2013 flood.
