SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: In 2008, the Board of Trustees approved Resolution 08-10 amending the 2007 Water Conservation Plan and formally adopting the Town of Erie's Water Conservation Plan. At the January 13, 2015 meeting, the Board decided on the 2015 Water Conservation Plan, which includes the High Efficiency Washing Machine Rebates.
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, ENERGY STAR certified clothes washers use about 25% less energy and 40% less water than regular washers.

In the 2017 operating budget there is $6,000 total budgeted for the issuance of 120 Washing Machine Rebates at $50 each. Based on the amount of rebates issued in 2016 and the continued town growth, we are recommending offering 80 rebates at $50 each beginning in January 2017. The program has proven to be consistent and continues to assist in providing a solution to help support the Town's Water Conservation Plan.
