SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
Transportation Master Plan Update
The Town’s current Transportation Master Plan, dated January 2008, was prepared in conjunction with the 2005 Comprehensive Plan Update, and was finalized January, 2008. Traffic projections were based on the 2007 Development Plan. Since this time there have been several updates to the Development Plan, and the Comprehensive Plan was updated in December, 2015. The 2015 Comprehensive Plan update did not include a Transportation Master Plan update.
On June 14, 2016 the Town of Erie Board of Trustees awarded a Consultant Agreement to Felsburg Holt & Ullevig, Inc. (FHU), for the Transportation Master Plan Update.
FHU identified seven tasks needed to develop the Erie Transportation Master Plan Update.
Task 1 - Project Management, Public Outreach, and Agency Coordination
Task 2 - Identification of Goals, Policies and Objectives
Task 3 - Document Existing Conditions
Task 4 - Review Land Use Forecasts
Task 5 - Travel Demand Modeling
Task 6 - Transportation Network Planning
Task 7 - Documentation of the planning process and recommendations.
We are now working on Tasks 5 and 6, Travel Demand Modeling and Transportation Network Planning. FHU will be presenting an overview of the process that has occurred to date. Once complete, the Erie Transportation Plan update will be brought back before you for final adoption.
Erie Parkway Corridor Study
The Erie Parkway Corridor Study will provide multi-modal transportation and streetscape recommendations based upon stakeholder input and a thorough understanding of community values, history, and future development scenarios. The study will include transportation scenario models, streetscape plans, and analysis of the potential impacts to community character and economic development potential, as well as recommendations, cost estimates and strategies for project implementation.
On December 8, 2015 the Town of Erie Board of Trustees accepted Federal Funds for the Erie Parkway Corridor Study.
On March 8, 2016 the Town of Erie Board of Trustees awarded a Consultant Agreement to Felsburg Holt & Ullevig, Inc. (FHU), for the Erie Parkway Corridor Study.
