SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

On July 25, 2016, the Town of Erie’s Street Sweeper was involved in a traffic accident. The sweeper unit sustained damage to the rear driver’s side.  This damage reduced the functionality of the sweeper, therefore the unit was taken out of service.

It was determined that emergency procurement is required to ensure sweeping procedures could continue, while town staff work with the insurance company of the driver of the vehicle that hit the sweeper to receive restitution for the cost of the repairs and rental.

Staff entered into a rental agreement with Intermountain Sweeper Co. The agreement was entered into on August 15, 2016, for a rental sweeper, cost for the rental unit is $15,000 per month, for a total of $60,000.

The sweeper unit had to be transported to Waco, Texas for repair. The sweeper has been repaired and is scheduled to be delivered back to the Town mid-December.
