SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
It is important to ensure drainage facilities are maintained and in good repair for the protection of water quality and downstream properties. The 2016 budget includes funds for drainage facility maintenance and repair. Due to the age of the development and the number of storm water detention ponds, Vista Ridge was selected for review this year.
In order to ensure the storm water detention ponds are functioning properly, a Drainage Consultant was hired to assess the condition of the detention ponds. After reviewing the assessment, staff determined that the conditions warranted hiring a contractor to perform this maintenance. This assessment was used to bid a maintenance project in which 9 storm water detention ponds will be maintained.
An Invitation to bid was posted on the Town's website for the Vista Ridge Detention Pond Maintenance Project on October 4, 2016 to ensure that local contractors were notified about this project. No Erie contractors submitted bids.
