SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
In October 2015, the Board of Trustees approved resolution authorizing Town of Erie to apply for grant from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) to assist with master plan and construction documents for the Flatiron Meadows Neighborhood Park site. As reported in a staff memo in April 2016 the Town of Erie received the requested $75,000 from GOCO to move project forward. Staff is pleased to be able to share this draft master plan with the Board at this time.
Staff has been working with Design Concepts, local Landscape Architect, to generate a unique concept and complete a master plan. Work has been in collaboration with Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) and has created a comprehensive framework for the neighborhood park, trail connections, and the grounds of the new BVSD school site. This master plan is unique to Erie and creates a site that will benefit the residents of Erie in their pursuit for both passive and active recreational activities. This plan is currently being reviewed by citizens to solicit their input.
Staff recommends the Board of Trustees approve the master plan for Star Meadows Park as presented by Design Concepts. Upon approval of the master plan the team will move on to finalize the master plan and completion of construction documents.
