SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

Each year, Town Staff along with members of the Colorado Division of Aueronautics (CDOA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) develop a 6-year Capital Improvement Project (CIP) list.  This list  identifies a series of projects that can receive state and federal grant assistance in the coming years.  The FAA allows the Airport Sponsor (the Town of Erie) to select a consultant to assist in the application for grant assistance, design of and management of the projects.

 

At the May 10, 2016 Board of Trustee meeting, the Board of Trustees awarded the Snow Removal Equipment Building design and construction management contract to Armstrong Consultants, Inc. 

 

The Town of Erie has submitted a grant application to the FAA and before you tonight is the first portion of this grant.  Attached is a FAA grant for the design portion of this project in the amount of $50,689.  This amount is for 90% of the design portion of the contract.

 

Once Armstrong has completed the design and received construction bids, the FAA will then make the grant offer for construction contract and project management.  The construction contract and the FAA Grant will be brought to the Board of Truestees for acceptance at that time.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Project Overview

Funds for this project will be a combination of grant funds from the FAA (90% of the project cost), matching funds from the Colorado Division of Aeronautics (CDOA) (5% of the project cost), matching funds from the Town of Erie Airport Enterprise Fund (5% of the project cost).  The breakdown of the grant is as follows:

The snow removal equipment building will be a metal building with building exterior finishes that will meet the Town of Erie’s Coummunity Development Standards.  It is anticpated to be 40’ X 60’ with two storage bays that will have 20’ wide X 14’ high doors.  This building will house the front end loader and plow and mowing equipment that was recently purchased by the Town.
