SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

The developer of the Flatiron Meadows Subdivision (Hines) and their contractor (Fiore & Sons) are currently constructing Erie Parkway expansion improvements along the development's frontage. As part of this project, the intersection of Erie Parkway and Flatiron Meadows Boulevard must be re-constructed and raised approximately three feet. Town staff has also made it a project requirement that Erie Parkway must remain open to through traffic during the week. In order to complete the intersection reconstruction safely and effectively while also keeping Erie Parkway open, the contractor believes an eight week closure (weather dependent) of Flatiron Meadows Boulevard is required. Staff has reviewed their closure request and agrees that a closure is the most efficient, and more importantly, safest alternative to construct the intersection.
The contractor has proposed a detour route utilizing Meadow Sweet Lane and Meadow View Parkway for local residential traffic. The contractor will also provide a temporary construction access to the west to 111th Street for all construction traffic. In addition, the developer has received written confirmation from the two home builders (Lennar and Meritage) to direct all their construction traffic to use the temporary construction access to 111th Street.
The contractor is proposing to start the closure on June 15th with a targeted re-opening of Monday August 15th, weather permitting. The Town has already sent out a press release and the contractor has installed message...
