SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
Pursuant to C.R.S. § 31-25-104(2.5), as amended, the Town of Erie Urban Renewal Authority (“TOEURA”) is comprised of board members representing the collective interests of the Town, county(ies) and all taxing bodies levying a mill levy within the boundaries of TOEURA.
With the resignation of Commissioner Adam Haid on October 4, the TOEURA currently has an even number of commissioners (10).
C.R.S. § 31-25-104(2.5), as amended, provides that “if the number of members of the governing body causes the authority to have an even number of commissioners, the mayor shall appoint an additional commissioner to restore an odd number of commissioners to the authority” (the “Mayor Appointee Position”).
The Mayor, with the consent of the Board of Trustees, desires to appoint Ashraf Shaikh to be a board member of the TOEURA to fill the Mayor Appointee Position.
