SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
The Sustainability Advisory Board voted (March 6, 2019 meeting) to recommend that the Erie Board of Trustees invite Jacob Smith, Executive Director of Colorado Communities for Climate Action (CC4CA) to present the benefits of Erie joining the CC4CA organization and recommend that Erie join the organization. https://cc4ca.org/
Colorado Communities for Climate Action is a coalition of local governments across the State that advocates for state and federal policies to protect Colorado's climate for current and future generations. CC4CA is governed by a steering committee of representatives from member communities. Unanimous consent among members is required to set the coalition's policy priorities.
Twenty-five jurisdictions are currently members representing roughly one-eighth of the state's population. The commitment is annual.
Jacob Smith, Executive Director of CC4CA, presented to the Board of Trustees on May 14, 2019. At that meeting, the Board invited Jacob Smith back for a study session to discuss CC4CA membership in more detail.
At the August 20, 2019 Board of Trustees study session, Jacob Smith, Executive Director of CC4CA, presented to the Board of Trustees regarding CC4CA membership. The Board of Trustees asked staff to bring the matter back to the Board during a regular meeting to formally approve the Town joining the CC4CA.
