SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
The 2025 Edition of the Standards and Specifications for Design and Construction (Standards and Specifications) was adopted in December of 2024.
The Standards and Specifications provide guidance to both internal and external agencies on the design and construction of public improvements within the Town. This includes but is not limited to guidance on site work, water facilities, sanitary sewer facilities, drainage facilities, and transportation facilities. To ensure the Standards and Specifications are kept current, periodic updates are necessary.
In preparing the 2024 and 2025 Editions of the Standards and Specifications, staff determined that more robust updates were needed for standards, specifications, and details regarding transportation that will align the Town's Transportation and Mobility Plan (TMP) which was adopted in December of 2024.
In August of 2023, the Town of Erie entered into an agreement with one of the Town's on-call consultants, Fehr and Peers, to prepare updates to these standards, specifications, and details to be in alignment with the Transportation and Mobility Update and with direction from Town of Erie Engineering and Transportation staff.
